Biographical Note

Herbert Lynes Beckwith, BArch 1926, MArch 1927, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, was a faculty member in the Department of Architecture from 1926 until his retirement in 1968. As senior partner in the firm of Anderson, Beckwith, and Haible, he co-designed several MIT buildings including the Dorrance Building, the Whitaker Building, Rockwell Cage, McCormick Hall, and the Alumni Pool. He was also associated with Eero Saarinen in the development of Kresge Auditorium and the MIT chapel.
