Biographical Note
James E. McCune, 1931-1996, was a professor in the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He graduated from the Carnegie Institute of Technology and received the PhD, 1958, from Cornell University. He joined MIT as an associate professor in 1963. He was a professor from 1968 to 1996, until he retired. He directed the Gas Turbine Laboratory from 1978 to 1979.
