MIT DIC 6889. Project Whirlwind Engineering Note E-518. A preliminary test on 12, 1/4-mil molybdenum permalloy cores from Magnetic Metals indicates that signal ratios are unsatisfactory for memory application. Disturbed-one-to-disturbed-tero ratio is about 35; disturbed-one-to-delta-one* ratio is about 50; and disturbed-one-to-delta-two* ratio is about 250. A slight disturb sensitivity was observed at moderate currents for most cores tested. Improved uniformity, however, is indicated.

Testing of Individual Cores in MTC Memory Planes, 1953 June 16

 File — Multiple Containers
Identifier: 16
Scope and Contents MIT DIC 6889. Project Whirlwind Memo M-2219. The 32 x 32 magnetic-core memory planes for MTC were constructed from cores tested and sorted on a production basis. To obviate the possibility of defective cores, each core was retested after it had been wired into a memory plane. A device was constructed to enable the operator to send current pulses through each core in a plane and observe output. The necessary test equipment was arranged to provide the pulses and allow measurement of the...

Scope and Contents

Project Whirlwind Memo M-2514. Master's Thesis Research Proposal on the Incorporation of a Magnetic Matrix Switch into a Multiplanar Coincident-Current Magnetic Memory. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the problem of driving a large (64 x 64 x 32 digit) coincident-current magnetic-core memory using magnetic switch cores.
