Biographical Note
Alfred S. Niles, Jr. was a member of the Department of Civil Engineering instructing staff and of the MIT Class of 1917. He received the SB, 1917, in civil engineering, and later was an assistant in civil engineering 1917 to 1918. Niles was professor of aeronautics and astronautics at Stanford University from 1927 to 1959.
