Abstract
The inauguration of James R. Killian as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's tenth president on April 2, 1949, was preceded by the two-day "Mid-Century Convocation on the Social Implications of Scientific Progress" on March 31 and April 1. Abstract
Norman J. Padelford was a member of the faculty of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from 1944 to 1969. Padelford helped develop a department of political science at MIT. Writings and correspondence in the collection document his involvement with the beginnings of the United Nations and the International Court of Justice. The collection also includes background materials and the manuscript of his unpublished “Roosevelt and the Panama Canal.”
