Biographical Note

George Vincent Slottman, 1903-1958, graduated with a BS degree in chemical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1925. After graduating from MIT, Slottman attended the University of Berlin, where he received a PhD in 1927.

Slottman was a professor of chemical engineering at MIT from 1927 to 1930. In 1930, he left the Institute to take a position as chief combustion engineer and iron works manager at United Steel Companies, Ltd. in Sheffield, England. In 1934, he joined the Air Reduction Company, Inc., later becoming vice president of the company, where he remained until his death in 1958.
