Biographical Note

Alex d’Arbeloff, 1927-2008, was chairman of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Corporation. He received a bachelor's degree in management from MIT in 1949. In 1960, d’Arbeloff founded and served as president and CEO of Teradyne Inc. He became a member of the MIT Corporation in 1989 and chairman in 1997. In 2003, he became honorary chairman and lifetime member emeritus. D’Arbeloff and his wife, Brit, made frequent gifts to MIT. They endowed the d’Arbeloff Fund for Excellence in MIT Education. D'Arbeloff also supported a professorship in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Their donations established the d'Arbeloff Laboratory for Information Systems and Technology. D’Arbeloff received a Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) lifetime achievement award. (1)
