This collection contains an archived version of the MIT and Slavery class project website, which hosts information on the efforts to study the Institute's ties to slavery through an undergraduate research course. The website describes results of findings and information on similar initiatives at other colleges and universities.

Historical Note

In 2017, the MIT and Slavery project began looking into the Institute's history with slavery as per the suggestion of professor Craig Wilder to President Rafael Reif. The class first met in fall 2017 and is led by Wilder and MIT Archivist, Nora Murphy.
