Abstract

The collection contains materials that document the academic student experience on the MIT campus. The collection includes handwritten and printed notebooks, exams, assignments, p-sets, and notes created by those teaching the class and by those taking the class.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The Department of Distinctive Collections (formerly the Institute Archives and Special Collections) received items in the collection from various MIT alumni and alumnae, families, friends, and affiliates and assembled them into one collection.

Processing Information

This collection was created in 2021 April following guidelines created during the 2020 Summer Combining Collections project. The main goal of combining many student course note collections into one collection is to make student notes collections easier to identify, search, and add to.

This collection was created with two new student note accessions. New and student note collections already in the Distinctive Collections are added to this collection over time.

Processing Information

Material donated by Martin Melnick relating to Electrical Engineering courses are described in AC-0484 Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science curricula. Physically the material is in the MIT Student Notes Collection boxes 2 and 3.
