Biographical / Historical
Founded in 1951, the Corporation Development Committee (CDC), a standing committee of the MIT Corporation, is charged with raising critical financial resources to uphold the Institute's academic rigor, promote student life, and advance global initiatives. In partnership with Resource Development, CDC members are committee to and seek to engage others in philanthropically supporting the Institute's scholarship and research mission to address the challenges of the 21st century. As an integral part of MIT's governing body, the CDC is chaired by the Corporation Chariman. Members are elected in accordance with the bylaws of the Corporation, seve a three-year term, and meet annually in Cambridge. The president of MIT, the treasurer, the vice president for Resource Development, and the chairman of the Corporation serve as ex-officio members. The chair of the Alumni Fund Board and the chair of the Katherine Dexter McCormick Society also serve on the committee during his or her terms in office.
