She was a leading expert on how businesses, especially insurance companies, influenced the development of computer based communication and information technology and how these technologies changed the business world in turn. She was also interested in the rise of standardization and standardization bodies. The physical material available preserves many annotated documents that may help reveal how she came to the conclusions that she did along with some research data and correspondence. The digital material preserves many of Yate’s drafts of eventual published material along with some correspondence and many LISP development forums she used in her research.

Processing Information
Original Order generally presereved. In a few instances folders were renamed. In most cases the original folders were divided into smaller folders. These are generally listed either by date e.g LOMA 1943-1944 or by number e.g 1/3 2/3. Yate's records as dean are stored in a seperate collection.
1. Loose Materials were foldered in "Miscellanous Unfiled" Folders note that other miscellanous folders were original and not the work of the apprasier
2. Folders were often broken up due to length this is the case in many cases were the folders are labeled 1/3 or by date
3. Some folders were renamed to give a better sense of the materials contained within
4. Otherwise original order was preserved
