Historical note
The Office of the Vice President for Industrial and Government Relations was created in 1954 following a reorganization of the Office of the Vice President. General James McCormack assumed the vice presidency for Industrial and Government Relations on July 1, 1957, and became responsible for the administration of the Division of Sponsored Research, Lincoln Laboratory, the Instrumentation Laboratory, and the Operations Evaluation Group. McCormack also served as a member of the MIT Corporation and advised Institute administrators on contractual relationships with industry and government. McCormack resigned from the vice presidency in November 1965.
