The records of the Committee on Student Housing, which worked from 1955 to 1956 with a charge from James Killian, president of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) consist of minutes of the committe meetings, brief topical reports, and the final report of the committee, completed in May 1956.

The Committee on Student Housing of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) was formed by MIT president James Killian in April 1955 to study immediate and long-term needs of the residential campus. The committee was chaired Edwin Ryer, class of 1920. The committee report to Mr. Killian and to the Corporation of MIT was completed in May 1956, and is often referred to as the "Ryer Report."
