Scope and Contents of the Collection
The collection of James D. Bruce correspondence consists of personal correspondence, which includes letters of congratulation to Bruce on his appointments at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the Industrial Liaison Program and office of information systems, and correspondence reflecting Bruce's interest in the expression of religious faith in the workplace.

Biography
James Donald Bruce, 1936- . B.S. in electrical engineering and mathematics, 1958, Lamar State College of Technology; S.M. in electrical engineering, 1960, Sc.D. in electrical engineering, 1964, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, was assistant professor of electrical engineering at MIT from 1964 to 1968, associate professor from 1968 to 1973; he was appointed professor in 1973. Bruce was the executive officer of the Department of Electrical Engineering from 1969 to 1971, associate dean of the School of Engineering from 1971 to 1977, and dean from 1977 to 1978. From 1979 to 1983 he was director of the Industrial Liaison Program. He became director of information systems in 1983 and vice president for information systems in 1986.
