This collection includes minutes and other records of the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) from the organization of the board in 1968 through 1983. Also in the collection are board resolutions, by-laws, and by-law revisions.

Scope and Contents of the Collection This collection includes the earliest records and minutes of the Alumni Association of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, dating from 1874 discussions of its formation to the formal minutes and report from 1875, when the Alumni Association was organized. Scope and Contents of the Collection

The collection includes early Alumni Association reports and meeting records, information on the Committee on Publication, which led to the establishment of Technology Review, Board of Directors minutes, financial records and budgets, information regarding reunions, Alumni Officers conference files, records of the National Selection Committee, and information regarding the choosing of MIT’s colors. Also included are audio tapes of speakers at alumni events.

The collection comprises records produced by Donald P. Severence and William J. Hecht, Executive Vice Presidents of the Association of Alumni and Alumnae of MIT. The materials span the years of 1962 to 1970 and 1980 to 1997.

Abstract

The Dedication Reunion Committee was formed to oversee the celebrations for the dedication of MIT’s new Cambridge campus, which took place on June 12, 13, and 14, 1916. The committee was divided into over twenty subcommittees responsible for an elaborate set of festivities. Several subcommittees are represented in the collection, including the Undergraduate Reunion Committee and the Technology Pageant Committee, whose records form a major portion of the collection.

Scope and Contents of the Collection The collection consists of class photograph albums which contain portrait photographs (primarily individual) of class members, faculty, and administrators of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Many of the portrait subjects are identified by name. The collection spans from approximately 1903 to 2008. Records include newsletters, correspondence, meeting minutes, reports, news releases, directories, and photographs of both active and inactive clubs and affinity groups.
