Scope and Contents of the Collection

This is an assembled collection of general brochures and program material related to courses and research programs at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It does not include materials of specific departments such as those issued by the Departments of Architecture, Chemistry, Physics, or Electrical Engineering, as those are in separate collections.

Abstract

This collection documents the career of Markus Zahn. Zahn has been a member of the faculty at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology since 1980 in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department. The collection contains reprints of articles authored by Zahn, and course materials relating to classes 6.013, 6.641, and 6.642. Educational videos showing class demonstrations are also included, as are photographs of electric and magnetic fields on dielectric and magnetic media.

The collection of Massachusetts Institute of Technology class record books consists of six volumes relating to an undergraduate class/laboratory in Forging and also Filing Shop taught between 1874 and 1877. Student name, description of work, grades, and attendance are recorded for a class taken by both mechanical engineers and civil engineers.

Scope and Contents This collection consists of the administrative records, events, and courses offered by the Women and Gender Studies Department (WGS) and its predecessors at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Scope and Contents of the Collection Of interest in the collection are materials documenting instruction in mining and metallurgy at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology during the beginning years of the Institute. Instruction in the mining course consisted of lectures, laboratory work, and a summer school.
